The best phones for a phone farm in 2026 are the ones we rack ourselves: Android phones for the lowest cost per phone ($94 each in a 20-phone box), the iPhone SE (3rd gen) as the practical iPhone ($185 each), and the iPhone 12 when the content is shot on the phone and image quality matters ($320 each). Every one of them is a real phone with a working camera; the iPhones have a SIM slot, and for the Android box it depends on the model in the current build. Which one is best depends on what the farm has to do, not on the logo.

If you have not yet decided between the two platforms, start with iPhone vs Android for a phone farm. This article goes one step further: the concrete models, what each is good at, and which one to pick for TikTok, Instagram, a mixed farm or a tight budget.

Which phones do we actually use in our farm boxes?

We sell four farm boxes, each a 20-slot chassis that is racked, wired, cooled and burned in before it ships:

On our hosted racks the choice is iPhone or Samsung Galaxy, picked per phone when you configure the rack.

Every box carries 12 months on hardware. Freight is a flat $230 and free once the goods pass $5,000. Hosted phones cost $63 (Samsung) or $79 (iPhone) per phone per month for 10–19 phones, and $50 or $63 for 20–49.

What is the Android box good at?

Cost per phone. At $94 a phone, the Android box costs about half of the SE box and under a third of the iPhone 12 box. For a farm that mostly scrolls, engages and posts finished clips, that difference buys you more accounts, not better ones.

Swaps. Android phones are cheap to replace and easy to source, so a failed slot is a small problem.

Flexibility. Our control software also runs on Android phones you already own, so you can mix a box with handsets you have.

The Android box lists "20 Android phones" rather than one fixed model. If a specific model or Android version matters to you, ask the team before you order which model is in the current build.

What is the iPhone SE (3rd gen) good at?

The SE is the practical iPhone for a farm. It carries the A15 Bionic chip of the iPhone 13 generation, Touch ID, a SIM slot and a camera that is fine for short-form content. It still receives current iOS releases.

It is also the fastest iPhone box to get: built and in stock, shipping one to two weeks after your order, at $3,700 for 20. Buy it when your accounts have to live on iOS and the phone's main job is to post and engage, not to film.

What is the iPhone 12 good at?

The iPhone 12 brings Face ID, a larger OLED screen and a better camera than the SE, and it also still receives current iOS releases. That makes it the right pick when the phone itself films the content and image quality is part of the product.

The trade-off is price and time: $6,400 for 20 and one to two weeks.

Which phone is best for TikTok?

For TikTok farms that post finished clips from a library, the Android box or the iPhone SE box does the job — the phone plays and uploads the video, it does not need a flagship camera. Pick Android for cost, the SE if your accounts have to be on iOS.

Pick the iPhone 12 when the videos are recorded on the phones, for example in-app filming or live-style content where the camera is what the viewer sees.

Which phone is best for Instagram?

The same logic applies. Instagram accounts that post edited Reels from a library run fine on Android or the SE. Creator accounts where the audience expects iPhone-shot footage are the case for the iPhone 12 — and whether that moves your numbers is worth testing on a few phones before you buy 20.

Which phone is best for a mixed farm?

If you run several platforms — our software handles TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, Snapchat, Threads, X and Reddit — you do not have to pick one model for everything. Android and iPhone boxes show up in the same browser grid, with the same live screen, per-phone logs and assistant access.

A common split is Android for volume and a smaller iPhone group for the accounts that must be on iOS. Plan the licence by phone count, not by box: Standard ($99 a month) covers up to 25 phones, so one box fits; two boxes need the Full version ($249 a month), which covers up to 100.

Software licence by farm size

$99/moStandard, up to 25 phones (one box)
$249/moFull version, up to 100 phones

Which phone is best on a tight budget?

  • No phones yet: the Android box at $1,880, about $94 per phone.
  • iPhones already in a drawer: the stackable 20-slot rack at $299 — Lightning, USB-C or Micro-USB cables, 220 V or 110 V, stackable as you grow — or the empty Lightning box at $690. It fits any iPhone with a Lightning port, up to and including the iPhone 14 family. iPhone 15 and later use USB-C and need different cables — ask before you order.
  • No hardware at all: rent. Ten hosted Samsungs cost $630 a month with the software included; see rent vs buy a phone farm for when that stops being the cheaper way.

The full budget picture, including software and connectivity, is in how much does a phone farm cost.

Which model gives the most platform trust?

None, on its own. iPhone and Android are both real phones, and that is what matters. Platforms judge an account by where it connects from and how it behaves: one connection per phone, a few days of normal use before heavy posting, human timing, and content that fits a niche. A cheaper phone used that way does better than an expensive phone that posts twenty times on day one.

Connectivity matters as much as the handset. Our team plans iPhone racks with a SIM per phone; on hosted racks a carrier SIM is $19 per phone per month plus $10 activation. The options are compared in phone farm proxies and SIMs. If you are unsure what your setup needs, ask the team on Telegram before you buy.

What should I check when I buy phones for a farm myself?

If you source your own handsets, a few checks save a lot of trouble later. These are general rules, not prices:

  • Real phones, not emulators. Apps behave on a phone the way they do in someone's hand.
  • Still on current updates. A model that no longer receives OS updates will sooner or later lose app support. Check each model's update status before you buy.
  • Not locked to someone else. Used phones must be signed out of the previous owner's Apple ID or Google account and free of carrier locks, or you cannot set them up.
  • Working camera and SIM slot. You need the camera to shoot content on the device and the SIM slot to verify accounts by number.
  • Battery health. Used phones vary. A tired battery runs hot on constant power.
  • One model per group. The same model across a group means the same screen layout, which makes assistants faster and automations more predictable.
  • The right connector. Lightning and USB-C need different cables. Count ports before you count phones.

How do farm phones hold up running all day?

Phones in a farm stay on charge around the clock, and two things wear batteries: heat and being held at 100 %. That is true for iPhone and Android alike. A box is built for airflow front to back, which a shelf of loose phones is not — see build vs buy a phone farm rack.

The portal shows each phone's battery in the device grid and flags one that runs hot (from 42 °C) or has sat at 100 % for three days, so you can act before a battery swells.
